Like Performance & Video Performance I CAN NOT SEE - STAY BEHIND

On the 9th of February 2021 I conducted in collaboration with Eric Kofi a live performance on a pedestrian bridge in the center of Kumasi, Ghana. The had the title I Can Not See - Stay Behind"

The video work is based on the live performance "I can not see - Stay behind ". The project was created and conducted with the Ghanaian artist Eric Kofi. Instead just to make a documentary video of the performance, we edited at the same time the performance as an experimental video art work. The goal is that the audience see the performance with a new approach and from an different perspective. The work approach three subjects related to the relation between black and white people,

First: The culture clashes and different views how we see the world and relations between us. Often burdened with events from the past and history. Which make often relations between different cultures and people with different colours unconscious uneasy.

Second:  About to built up trust between different humans but as well how you react when discovering new horizons and to be set into a new environment.

Third: Are you willing and able to see and accept the new environments or you just afraid or dislike everything, maybe just to look for a reason to confirm your prejudice thoughts by just accepting your own small horizon and toughs. Moving back into your cocoon.

train journey

The train arrives and they start their journey. However during the journey the train encounters an obstacle. The rail is broken. All the passengers and the machinist leave the train looking at the rail and try to repair it. Will they succeed in fixing the rail so that the train could continue it’s journey.
