Socially Engaged Art

Samples of Socially Engaged Art projects and works

In addition to the Social Sculpture projects, there are other works and projects that fall under the category of "Socially Engaged Art." These include participatory performances, land art workshops, lectures on the connection between mental health and art, as well as various photographic, graphic, and video works. There is no single, unified body of work. Also several photographic and video works presented in different sections of the website simultaneously belong to the "Socially Engaged Art" category. The works and projects in this area aim to convey a process of deeper reflection, sometimes incorporating philosophical perspectives. Therefore, one finds few direct political statements or slogans in these work.

The implementation of and participation in socially engaged art projects takes place worldwide. Examples include Taipei (Taiwan), Cartagena (Colombia), Karachi (Pakistan), Berlin (Germany), and Andorra-la-Valle (Andorra). The venues are often universities, schools, cultural centers, and public spaces.
