 Respublika Festival

Limassol & Nicosia, Cyprus  08.12.2017-16.12.2017

Social Sculpture workshop/performance Unfolding-Unwrapped

At the Respublika Festival I conducted four workshops. All workshops happend in the public space. The idea is that also people who pass by can partcitipated spontaneously .

Two workshops already took place in Limassol at the Plateia Iroon (Heroes Square) on 9th and  11th of December  2017. The other two took place on 13tn and 15th of December in the capital of Cyprus, Nicosia on the Phaneromeni (sometimes also written as Faneromeni) Square in the old town at 15.00 h (3pm).

The workshop/perfomance 3 & 4  I conduted in in Nicosia became quiet different .However at the end it turned to be out I created a complet new version of Unfolding-Unwrapped.

The beginning of the workshop/performance on 13th didn´t get really off from the ground. Very different from Limassol. Nevertheless within half hour I tried a new variation out for to catch the attention of people passing by. Material and basic concepted stayed te same. By now my role in the performance became more active and the project move more towards a participartory street performance then to be a workshop. It went so well at the end, that I tried and conducted the same new creation twice on the 15th.

Here is a link to an interview I gave about my concepts and ideas concenring Unfolding-Unwrapped

The Reel Erotic Art Film Festival - Two Lovers

December 6th, 2017, 18.00 h (6 pm)

The Cotton Club

16 Queens Street, St. John, NL A1C4K2, Canada

The Reel Erotic Art Film Festival aims to celebrate the erotic arts by showcasing short and feature films that are sexual in nature stemming from around the world. But at the same time have a set genre and a meaningful story line and artistic value.

Curator was the Canadian filmmaker and writer Mrs. Jenell Diegor.

My video Two Lovers will be screened. A short and very metaphoric and symbolized video about love, lovers, memories, doubts and the inner strife which results from this kind of situation. However there can be more then one interpretation. Just to mention one : One lover for the heart and one lover for good sex

Pulchri Studio

November 11 - December 13, 2017

Opening Saturday, 11th of November, 17.30 h

Tuesday - Sunday ,  12.00-17.00 h.

Lange Voorhout 15, The Hague, The Netherlands

Pulchri Studio shows two exhibitions about the Middle East in November: "The Orient 2.0" shows the realistic work of both contemporary artists from Europe and theMiddle East and North Africa. The exhibition "Marius Bauer: Addicted to the Middle East" shows the fairytale work of this early twentieth-century artist and former member of Pulchri. Due to the exhibitions almost simultaneous, Marius Bauer's romance and realism of contemporary artists across the Middle East meet each other. And you'll see how migration and globalization changed the look of the Orient over a century

3rd Int. Video Creation Festival - Close Up Vallarta 2017

3rd Int. Video Creation Festival - Close Up Vallarta 2017

November 16th – 18 November 2017

TheatroVallarta, Movie

Puerta Vallarta , Jalisco, Mexico

The Festival is a video exhibition designed for 3 days, in which materials that range from Video Art to new video trends are presented (projected). This year will be focused on both international video art and the production of videos by local artists. CLOSE UP offers the opportunity to present new video works of emerging or established artists and is interested in the fact that the art made in video not only circulates in museums and galleries, but also reaches other spaces and a wider audience.

My video: If it´s sense you are after.

What makes sense. Why must be a sense. Will be there a sense at all at the end. A journey into the weird subconsciousness, passing by dreams, inner strifes, sensualities and the even more hidden sexual, erotic dreams and desires.

Opening end presentation/exhibition Indo-German Art Forum

Opening of the final exhibition of the Indo-German Art Forum at Arts Acre

11th of November 2017. with Dr. Michael Feiner, Consul General of Germany in Kolkata

At the end I show my installation 9038 Cobwebs Garden with I created specially for the forum and exhibtion. Furthermore a series of documentary photos about the workshop/performance Unfolding-Unwrapped.

Finally a selection of video works Night, Street, Lantern, Pharmacy , Knife-Relation ! and Sorrow. As well sequences from Unfolding-Unwrapped in St. Petersburg and video presenttion of my installation 9038.

However I was the only installation, performance and video artist under a hole bunch of some good painters and sculptors, therefor I was a bit a outsider. Video art, installations and performance have a relativly shadow existence in India and education in art schools and art academies in India still focus very strongly on painting, sculpting and printmaking. Even in art circles yet a lot of people are not standing very open against the so called new media disciplines. My final conclusion in general about the forum is the exchange between Indian and German artist could have been deeper and should have given more and better time arrgenments. However the goal to show different art disciplines and concepts I reached. Even though I would have wished some deeper and also critical discussions about my art, such as in Russia, Taiwan, Bulgaria or Pakistan.

Far Distance                                             Memories

The BINNAR arts festival will be held for the second time in the city of Vila Nova de Famalicão, between November 10 and 24, 2017. Among music, performance, photography, theater, video, sculpture, image or urges pass through the city, whether in exhibition, with live performances, in residence and / or to coordinate projects and workshops. The festival, supported by the City Council, has added several partnerships and different spaces of the city and the county (museums, galleries, foundations, schools and others) to present a program that joins free artist in all events and activities.

Av. 25 de Abril 104, 4760-101 Vila Nova de Famalicão, Portugal

Tuesday to Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

HOMESICKNESS Collective exhibition with: Ana Cláudia Silva, André Macedo, Diego Bernaschina, Fátima Abreu Ferreira, Gian Cruz, Hugo Pereira, Johannes Gerard, Juan Alberto Negroni + Iván Antonio Negroni, Kushtrim Zeqiri, Mar Paul Wiersbinski and Rogério Ribeiro

Starting from the thematic suggestion "homesickness", several perspectives of different creators open up. More than an exhibition of photography or video, it is a grouping of personal visions, as many as their number. Images. Better here we will speak of statements and non-literal works, because neither the curative look can be allowed to be conditioned to something hermetic, since the concept opens up, making itself comprehensible. Everything here forces a second look and the opening of seeing the other

The next step brings my Workshop/Performance Unfolding-Unwrapped to Kolkata, India

freely accessible at all times

Entrance: Natuurpoort Nederheide, Kaak 11, 5763 PK Milheeze (Gemert-Bakel), Netherlands

or entrance Golfbaan Stoippelberg, Hooizak 7, 5761 RZ Bakel (Gemert-Bakel), Netherlands

Land Type Fieldtrip is based on this year's Land Art Diessen, in Diessen (NL), which took place in August / September 2017. Nearly all participating artists of Land Art Diessen have re-installed their Land Art projects either in whole or in a different form for Fieldtrip. The objects have been installated along a 4 km long walking route.

My Land Art Object On The Other Side had to be rebuilt in a very different form. This was due to the nature and the possibilities offered by the locality. This changed the original concept somehow. But material and the idea of the contrast have remained the same.

My video work is based on the poem > Anticipating You < by the Russian poet Aleksandr Blok (St.Petersburg, 1880-1921). Influenced by Solovyov's doctrines, Blok had vague apocalyptic apprehensions and often vacillated between hope and despair. The work is simultaneity a metaphoric investigation and interpretation of the poem and about the city of St. Petersburg. The investigation and interpretation is done in two different ways at the same time> By the performance of the theater group DFT Stage and through visual images taken within the urban space of the city.

Final Performance UNFOLDING - UNWRAPPED      -      STARTAS Art Festival

Final Performance of the workshop UNFOLDING-UNWRAPPED

at STARTAS ART FESTIVAL,Rokiskis, Lithuania

It is already some time ago that the festival is over. But here is now a link to a video with sequences of the final performance after my four days workshop with different group of students.

At the end four students performed sequences of the workshop on 21st of September 2017 in the small theater of Rokiskis Culture Center.

STARTAS ART FESTIVAL -  Four days workshop + Final Performance UNFOLDING - UNWRAPPED

Startas Art Festival (Fall Edition)

21.09.2017 - 23.09.2017 (Festival)

17.09.2017 – 20.09.2017 (Workshop Unfolding-Unwrapped)

21.09.2017, 19.00 h - (Performance Unfolding - Unwrapped)

Culture Center Building  - Big Aula

Rokiskis, Lithuania

Startas takes place for the first time and focus on Video Art, Video Performance, Dance and Performance.

In conjunction with the festival I conduct my Social Sculpture Workshop/Performance Unfolding / Unwrapping. Nevertheless this time the difference is that workshop runs over several days. On day one and day two I was working with two small groups of students between 12-14 years old and 15-17 years old. The goal is to present with the participants a public performance using sequences from the workshop. The performance itself is planned for 21th of September in the evening at 19.00 h

At day three I worked again with a new group. Five students between 14-16year old. They followed the same steps as the previous groups. However this group needed more guidance then the others groups before them. But it is very interesting to see the different approachs  and ideas each group developes during the workshop.

Now after day four past, four girls will be ready for to  performe sequences from the workshop in form of a short performance. This will happend on Thursday, September 21th at 19.00 h in front of  the Culture Center in Rokiskis. Even the arrangements where not easy and a number of problems had to be solve, we could do a rehersal at the end. For a better unterstanding and communication , I made step plan in form of sketches how they should stand and move. Also I gave much more guidance more than usually. This visual tool and more strict guidance help quiet a lot during the rehersal.

The Other Side (De Andere Kant)

A transition, a door, to create a connection. At the same time to recognize borders but also to cross borders. The connection and the boundary are not generally visible because, for example, they are interrupted by the stream. But there is also a contrast of silence, bound, but on the other hand there is the movement of the water and the rhythm of the installation. , The stream, the trees, the shore become a part of the installation.

I chose the following materials: colored jute, because color plays an important role in all my installations. Bamboo is another material I've used. With the relatively straight grown bamboo I wanted to create a contrast

The Festival gave an opportunity to present trends in the development of contemporary art - concepts that generate new approaches and ideas. At the current moment, the speed of changing "scenery" is hardly perceptible ... nevertheless, for the analysis and systematization of such forums are needed. Where the authors offer their ideas, their vision of the world, and where, the conceptual interpretation of reality does not always have an unambiguous artistic value. The era of democratic expansion is open to Creativity in all manifestations, and everyone can become a creator.

My video work Neither Here - Nor There, 2017 and Anticipating You, 2017 where presented at the festival. Both videos are related to St.Petersburg. For Anticpating You is was the premiere.

Reel on Hai  Project  /  Installation Connection

Ongoing project since 16th of July 2016 until the start of the first Karachi Biennale 2017, Pakistan, 22nd of October 2017

The Karachi Biennale Trust is an art platform that will host the largest international art event Karachi Biennale in Pakistan’s largest city in 2017. The primary aim of the Karachi Biennale is to take art out of the traditional gallery space and to celebrate the extraordinary talent of local and international artists with a larger public audience.

For this, the Public Outreach Committee of the Karachi Biennale has invited artists, designers and architects to transform around 100 empty cable reels into art pieces. These projects will be installed in schools, parks, hospitals and universities all over Karachi where artists will work on site to engage the local community.

The project Reel on Hai has been in full swing since July 2016 and will run until the Karachi Biennale which will take place between 22.10.2017 and 05.11.2017

Installation Connection

About my installation for the project, which I created in the week of 27.02.2017 / 03.03.2017

In general my installations work has a tendency towards conceptual and minimal art but at the same time using often metaphoric symbols as well.. If it´s a outdoor construction the surrounding environment has lot of influence of the final outcome and design. Specially this installation differents at the end quiet a lot from the original plans.

The reels itself, the rope, the colours and the trees are metaphoric symbols for stability, preserve, connected and interwoven into environment, industry and society and the cable industry which laid one important base for Karachi's wealth

Location, Small Sculpture Park beside Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture ST-33, Block 2, Scheme 5, Clifton, Karachi 75600, Pakistan
